Everywhere Everything

Lord, I'm never alone,
wherever I go, you're there.
It's a double edged truth,
but truth all the same.
You're everywhere I go
and everything to me.

Everywhere and everything,
everywhere and everything,
you're everything to me.

I went home the other day.
Been years since I left.
But momma talked of You
like You'd never gone.
But that can't be because
You were always with me.

With me in my tears and
with me in my fears
With me when I was wrong
and headed way down.
You're everywhere I go
and everything to me.

Everywhere and everything,
everywhere and everything,
you're everything to me.

I don't see You but
I feel You everywhere
Filling every empty space
with life and hope.
Even when I can't believe.
Even when I can't see.

With me in my tears and
With me in my fears
With me when I'm wrong
and headed way down.
Lord, You're everywhere I go
and everything to me.

Everywhere and everything,
everywhere and everything,
you're everything to me.

You Woke Me Up

When people ask me what my politics are, I say Christian.  When they persist I either say I'm an avant garde conservative or a reactionary progressive depending on which answer I judge will make them most nervous.  I believe in timeless truth and infinite love. I believe that truth and love are not opposites.  Indeed when we are in Christ it turns out that they're the same thing.

That means the only source of true love is Christ. This is a poem/song about that fact.  About realizing that the source of the love we give others is Him who first loved us

C                                    F
You came and woke me up
F                                    G
To say you'd  had enough.
C                                      G
Enough of the loneliness and the fear.
F                                       D                         G
Too much of the road and not enough of here.

F                                                 G7
But the hole in your soul is too big to fill.
Am
And mine is bigger still.
F                             G7
I don't have the love you need.
C                                      F
And I don't think I ever will.

Chorus

F                                 G7
We can't fill our souls with us.
Am
Tossing holes into holes,
F                              G7
My empty can't fill you up.
C                                        F
And we both feel so alone.

Chorus

F                        G7
I've heard there was a man
Who died to heal our hearts.
Maybe if I can get his love.
Then I can share it with you.

C                                 F
He came and woke us up.
F                                 G
To tell us He was enough.
C                                     G
To banish our loneliness and our fear.
F                          D              G
And to make our pathways clear.

And my hole is still too big to fill.
But he filled it all the same.
F                                G7
He gave me so much love to spare
That I can truly love you.

C                                 F
He came and woke us up.
F                                 G
To tell us He was enough.
C                                     G
To banish our loneliness and our fear.
F                          G              C
And to make our pathways clear.

End.

F                                             G7
Yes he rose to save our souls for love.
C                          D
And he forever will.
